2014 Health and Happiness Fair
at North Highland Elementary School
Access Sports joined a cooperative group of caring citizens to organize a fun fall fair for the students, families and neighborhood of North Highland located in Northwest Oklahoma City. Working with this team to make our community better for everyone brought Health and Happiness to over 250 children and over 400 people who attended. The organizers of the Health and Happiness Fair attend a meeting called the Oklahoma Kids Community Team, meeting once a month, and our mission is "To provide a system of care for comprehensive, high quality mental health and substance abuse services for Oklahoma County families and children to live healthy lives in their community through community collaboration involving key partners who work cohesively to educate, advocate and support." This meeting is hosted by OK County Systems of Care.
2013 Spooky Town Bash
Access Sports hosted a Halloween Bash for Studio 222 which is an after school program that provides a positive environment where youth can develop a strong, healthy self-esteem and resilience against at-risk behaviors. This program prepares the youth through mentoring, internships, college preparation and life skills.
Santa Fe Games
Each year Access Sports hosts the Santa Fe Games that include swimming, food and music. In 2013 we had participants from Positive Tomorrows (45 kids), Center of Family Love (20 residents) and Rose Rock Academy (30 kids). In 2014, we welcomed Rose Rock Academy (45 children) and Boys and Girls Club (40 youth). Photos above are from the participants at the Boys and Girls Club and Center of Family Love.
OK Quail Forever Youth Programs
Access Sports and the Quail Forever Central Oklahoma 89er Chapter held their annual youth shoot in June 2014. The morning consisted of a safety talk before splitting into groups that rotated between turns on the skeet course and hands-on conservation learning projects. We ended with a cookout for the children and parents to enjoy together. July brought Whistlerfest to Arcadia for No Child Left Indoors Day with archery, fishing and conservation.
Wolfpack Basketball Team
The Wolfpack is a basketball team made up of 12 Superstars, mostly 9th graders, who aren't able or weren't selected for their school's program. Having met for over two years, they work with Access Sports to help with fundraising, practices, and special events. They have had winning and loosing seasons, but have formed a special brotherhood that has allowed for amazing growth and opportunities for the players both on and off the court.
